Each year at ACU, Mission Week is a time when our whole community comes together to celebrate who we are and what we stand for. It’s a week that brings students, staff, and campuses to life through shared experiences—events, conversations, and moments that build connection and strengthen a genuine sense of belonging.
While it’s a chance to have fun and engage in campus life, Mission Week is also grounded in our Catholic identity and inspired by our Patron Saint, St Mary MacKillop, whose life continues to remind us of what it looks like to live with courage, faith, and generosity. In that spirit, the week which is a celebration of St Mary’s Feast Day (August 8th), invites all of us to reflect on how we are called to live with purpose—not just here at university, but in every part of our lives.
This year’s theme, “Made for More,” invites you to recognise that your life has a deeper purpose than simply getting through uni, building a career, or chasing the next milestone. You’re not here by accident; you’ve been created with unique gifts, and your life is meant to be lived with meaning, courage, and depth.
It’s easy to stay on the surface, going through the motions in your studies, keeping friendships easy but shallow, avoiding vulnerability in relationships, or settling for what’s comfortable instead of what’s meaningful. But you were made for more than that. You were made for real friendship that costs something, for love that is self-giving, for work that serves others, and for a life that actually makes a difference. Living a “made for more” life might look like reaching out to someone who’s struggling, having an honest conversation instead of keeping things safe, stepping into leadership when it feels uncomfortable, or choosing purpose over popularity.
Being “made for more” isn’t about doing more things, it’s about becoming the person you’re called to be. It’s choosing depth over distraction, courage over comfort, and purpose over passivity. It’s about showing up differently in every part of your life—your friendships, your family, your relationships, your work—and asking, “What would it look like to live this moment with intention and love?”
Mission Week is your chance to step into that. In Semester 2, Week 2, (August 10–14), campuses across ACU will come alive with events, speakers, and opportunities to help you break open this theme and explore what “more” might look like in your own life. Come along, bring a friend, ask the deeper questions, and get involved. Don’t just observe—engage.
Because this week isn’t just about a theme. It’s about discovering the life you were made for—and taking your first step towards it.
